View: 117 Update: 2026-02-05 Category: Case Studies(Video)

Patient with Sporadic Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

Pre-Intervention Clinical Presentation:

  1. Generalized fasciculations ("muscle twitching")
  2. Right-hand muscle atrophy with decreased muscle strength, manifesting as:
  3. Inability to adduct the little finger (abduction障碍)
  4. Weakened thumb opposition strength
  5. Shoulder and lower limb muscle soreness after prolonged sitting/walking
  6. Poor peripheral circulation in cold environments, presenting with cold extremities and muscle cramps

  2. Biomarker Improvement:
  3. Neurofilament light chain (NfL): Sustained decline (52.6% cumulative reduction)
  4. ALSFRS-S score: Minimal annualized decline (0.5 points/year; 1-point drop over 3 years)
  5. Symptom Resolution:
  6. Fasciculations eliminated
  7. Enhanced peripheral temperature perception
  8. Restored little finger adduction and improved thumb strength
